Blogging is a powerful platform for expressing your thoughts and making a meaningful contribution to the world. When faced with numerous ideas, I often ponder the question posed by William Shakespeare: “To be, or not to be, that is the question?” For me, it’s “To blog, or not to blog?” How can we share collaborative learning strategies to achieve this goal? Upon reflection, the answer became clear to me: collaborative learning strategies; through alternative learning, we can collaborate and learn together. Even after retiring, I felt a strong desire to make a difference. While pickleball is enjoyable, I seek more fulfillment.
Blogging allows me to share my ideas and experiences, inspiring others to do the same. With so much to express and many people to reach, there has never been a better time to share my thoughts and insights with the world. How can I contribute? I asked myself, reflecting on my initial experience upon arriving here.
Introduction
Allow me to introduce Carlos (that’s me) – a determined learner who didn’t let language barriers hinder his dreams. Arriving in the United States at the age of 11 without knowing English, Carlos set out to swiftly and effectively learn the language. He utilized alternative learning tools such as movies and comic books to expand his vocabulary and critical thinking skills.
Carlos (me again) frequented the library to read books; if he had money, he would watch movies. His love for reading was instilled by his grandfather, who introduced him to writers such as Dumas, Dickens, Twain, and Burroughs. Carlos also discovered the magic of comic books, which he now refers to as graphic novels. Through his passion for reading and his unwavering commitment to learning, Carlos immersed himself in the language and achieved his goals.
